A Second Half Goal Lifts Potters Past Hull

Substitute Peter Crouch's Header Secures Stoke City Victory

A Second-Half Goal Lifts Potters Past Hull

Stoke City earned a hard-fought 1-0 home victory over Hull City in the Premier League on Saturday, with substitute Peter Crouch scoring the game-winning goal in the second half. The win moved Stoke up to 13th place in the table, while Hull remained in the relegation zone.

Crouch's Late Strike

Stoke had the better of the chances in the first half but failed to break through Hull's defense. In the 71st minute, however, Crouch came off the bench and made an immediate impact. The veteran striker headed home a Charlie Adam free-kick to give Stoke the lead. Hull pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages, but Stoke held on to secure the three points.

Crouch's Career

Crouch, 35, has had a long and successful career in English football. He has played for a number of top clubs, including Southampton, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur. He has also represented England 42 times, scoring 22 goals.

McGregor's Performance

Hull goalkeeper Allan McGregor made a number of fine saves to keep his team in the game. The Scottish international denied Stoke's Xherdan Shaqiri and Mame Diouf on several occasions. However, he was unable to keep out Crouch's header in the second half.
