JD Vance, the Republican Senator from Ohio, was sworn into the United States Senate on January 3, 2023. Vance, who defeated Democratic opponent Tim Ryan in the 2022 election, is best known as the author of the bestselling memoir "Hillbilly Elegy" (2016).
As a member of the 118th United States Congress, Vance has pledged to focus on issues such as ending racist government DEI programs.
