The Morning of September 11th
At 8:46 AM, American Airlines Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. Seventeen minutes later, at 9:03 AM, United Airlines Flight 175 struck the South Tower.
The Collapse of the Towers
At 9:59 AM, the South Tower collapsed after burning for 56 minutes. The North Tower collapsed at 10:28 AM, 102 minutes after it was hit.
The Attack on the Pentagon
At 9:37 AM, American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
The Crash in Pennsylvania
At 10:03 AM, United Airlines Flight 93 crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. The passengers and crew had attempted to regain control of the plane after learning about the other attacks.
Aftermath and Legacy
The 9/11 attacks resulted in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people and changed the course of history. The attacks led to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the invasion of Afghanistan.
