In a horrifying pattern of violence, multiple mass shootings have occurred in the United States in recent weeks, leaving behind a trail of shattered lives and unanswered questions.
On May 14, a 17-year-old girl was killed and three other young people were injured in a shooting outside a convenience store in Buffalo, New York. The shooting is believed to have stemmed from a dispute between two groups.
Just two days later, on May 16, a gunman dressed in black opened fire at a church in Laguna Woods, California, killing three people and injuring two others. The victims were all elderly members of the congregation.
On May 24, a gunman opened fire at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, killing 19 children and two teachers. It was the deadliest school shooting in the United States since the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in 2012.
On June 1, at a candlelight vigil near a high school in Houston, Texas, an armed female suspect opened fire, killing one person and injuring at least 13 others.
